Manhunt 2 News | GGL Wire Post Manhunt 2 Hands-on

Over at GGL
Wire, Robert Summa had the chance to play the M-Rated Nintendo Wii version
of Manhunt 2 for an hour and has posted his hands-on impressions of what he
thought. It seems like Robert didn't like using the Wii Remote to play the game,
he had this to say about it:

Playing the Wii version, it’s completely understood that the actual
control of the game would also add to the immersion factor of Manhunt 2. And,
because of the Wii itself, this is where Manhunt 2 actually struggles in the
legitimacy department. Without any real solid control or feel with what you’d
think is translated from your hands to the screen, the Wii version of Manhunt
2 just seems sloppy. Handcuffed by the technical limitations of the Wiimote
itself, a lot of your time in Manhunt 2 feels like a game of chance —
in that because there is no 1-1 control, you feel a great sense of delay.

This is most noticeable in the hand-to-hand combat. Boiling down to nothing
but a Wii version of button mashing — waving your hands in the air like
you just don’t care — the fighting leaves much to be desired on
a fundamental level.

He also has this to say on the much talked about blurred executions:

The main reason for this is that the executions themselves are nothing but
a blurred mess of graphical effects that overlay the actual action happening
underneath. The problem with this is that there’s no real pleasure or
reward gained from pulling off a gruesome attack. It’s hard to think
how this game was given an AO rating when the actual hardcore violence is
so hidden.

After pretty much a bad take on the game, he had this to say about his time
with the game:

Overall, it’s always difficult to gain a real opinion one way or the
other with a limited time spent with any game, so the jury is still out. While
Manhunt 2 on the surface seems to not live up to the intense media spotlight,
it could actually be hiding some real quality that just didn’t jump
out during an hour of play.

Manhunt 2 News | Suda 51 Not Challenging Manhunt 2 Violence

You may or may not remember a comment made by Suda 51, (Goichi Suda) of 'Michigan:
Report from Hell', 'Killer 7' and among others the upcoming Nintendo Wii exclusive
'No More Heroes' fame, that stated he would try to make No More Heroes as violent
or even more violent than Manhunt 2. It was during an interview with IGN
and recently SPOnG had a chance to catch up with him in another interview at
this year's Tokyo Game Show and one of the questions was regarding the statement
he made back in February, he had this to say:

You mentioned a while ago that No More Heroes is going to be more
violent than Manhunt 2. Are you still going to carry out this threat of yours?

SUDA51: Well, we still don't know if Manhunt 2 is going to be released
or not, but actually we're looking forward to it. The violence won't be the
same kind of graphical violence that you may see in Manhunt 2 anyway, because
it's more of a cartoon-esque violence whereas in Manhunt 2 it's really real
and lifelike. So, it won't be the same level of violence regardless.

Yeah, I don't think No More Heroes will be as violent as Manhunt 2, it's
still right up there. It's the one to beat!

Latest Online Previews

Recently, some of the net's biggest gaming sites got to take a hands-on
look at Manhunt 2. Here's what they had to say:

"Manhunt 2 looks to be a deeply, horrifyingly, unsettling experience,
and we mean that as the highest possible compliment. The deeper you delve
into the dystopic plot, involving twisted science, questionable advice and
six years worth lost memories set in an atmosphere so black it seems to almost
bend time itself, you could very well begin to question your own morality."
- GamesRadar

"The original game was a twisted tale filled with violent action, as
well as stealthy gameplay, and the follow-up looks to deliver more of the
same grisly goods." -“ Gamespot

"This blood-soaked effort is still one of the grossest and most disturbing
titles we've ever seen. It's also fun, thanks to usually-tight control and
an abundance of dark atmosphere. We're going to join the hunt this Halloween..."
- IGN

"Manhunt 2 still looks to be one of the most violent games on the market…it's
still creepy, still makes decent use of the Wii motion controls, and still
is one of the few games on the market willing to take things this far."
- 1up

Unfortunately there is still no European date listed for the game, unless a
date is given within the next week or so it is probably going to be best (for
those concerned) to start thinking about what options is available import wise
as the release could be far from the North American release date.
